LONG TIME NO HEAR!

18/03/2015

Well hello!
Time has gone fast and I didn't realise how long it has been since my last post.
Last year I joined a local market and started selling my cards along with some other craft ideas to make a few extra $$ on the side. It was only once a month and some months were quieter than others but the best thing was meeting other creative minded ladies.

Also in August last year I started a REAL job, so the craft market had to take a back seat whilst I adjusted to my new job with more hours and with adults that I can speak to and have real conversations with....Previous job was for an hour everyday in the local school tuck shop serving the kids their lunches etc. Was great while my own kids were still of an age where they needed me home, but since leaving and moving on to High Sch, they're able to look after themselves and I can pursue a new career.

Retail is a lot different than I imagined, but enjoying a new challenge in my life with new skills.
As any parent returning back to the work force will understand, it's not as easy as when you worked full time before kids & had so much time away from the real world of working a 9-5 job
Any way, my card making also took a back seat and crafting days were few and far between, but now this time of year the hours aren't so huge so I've been able to sneak ( make sure I fit in) some crafting time.
Whether it be doing ATC'S for my group I'm in or making cards for my kids friends and their families.
So that's it in a nut shell for now.
Best I get myself in to bed for a busy day ahead tomorrow, I'm thinking it will be a busy one, makes the day go faster.
I have posted some of what I have made recently.

WHAT HAPPENED TO FEBURARY?

Oh dear, seems i've missed a month.. well nothing important to report..Waitangi day, came and went no different to me, Valentines came and went, although i did buy my hubby a ticket to the car racing & popped it in with a handmade card. He loved it.... i enjoyed giving it to him, got him outta my hair for a few hours each day over the weekend.
I haven't really made any cards over that time.. I'm not sure what's going on, but i just can't seem to pick up the craze at the moment.. but my head is going 20 to the dozen with ideas and images but to put them together... hmmmmmm that is the trouble tooo much going on in my head!
So March is now here.
We desperately need a good drop of rain, nothing to flood my garage, but enough to water the ground a bit and for the farmers to be happy.
This month is a special month, with in the next few days my baby turns 13!!
Remember 13? I do, JUST.
We're taking her to the ROCKET ROPES near the Auckland Airport, next to Butterfly Creek. We went one day last year, so much fun, I even did the course.... mind I was shattered afterwards.
So now i need to remember to breathe deeply and relax and it may all come flooding back to me... one can hope?
Happy March everyone and a Happy ST PATRICKS DAY to you on the 17TH.

Spring.

So much for September being the 1st day of Spring. I usually find we have more rain and wind until at least Christmas time & we all wait to see if we'll have a fine day for Christmas day.

Over the past weekend My Mum, whom lives up North decided to shout myself and my family a place to stay in Paihia, called The Edgewater Palms. Since she moved up there we don't see each other so often now.
The weekend was ok weather wise, but we made the most of it and two of our 3 kids joined us along with my daughters Friend and Sons girlfriend.
We took a drive to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Lots of photos taken and maybe will scrapbook one day.

So in the last few weeks I've also been organising myself a trip to the States for the very 1st time. I'm off to Reno to celebrate my brothers 40th Birthday. Only staying for 2 weeks and what a bunch of nerves I've been. Last night with only about 30 days to go I couldn't sleep.. my mind kept ticking and ticking... guess the excitement is creeping in.

Summer of December

Well I've missed out a whole month of blogging.
Due to private goings on in my home, it's been a bit hard to get my head together.
So far I've been busy with ATC SWAPS & the KIWI CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT SWAP....
Been lots of fun. Even tried selling a few cards a two different markets. 1st market i managed to sell 2, and didn't even get a look at at the 2nd, but i guess people need the chance to get to know you and your craft.

Not really started my Christmas shopping  yet, mind did do a wee bit whilst on my holiday in Reno, Nevada.
God i miss the shopping there!
So It's been a bit  hard to get into the spirit of Christmas this year, we've managed to put up our tree with all the new deco's we've brought here and when i was away.
Every year we usually light our house up, but this year decided to give it a miss.
So I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas Day, where ever you are in the world & the sun continues to shine for us here in NZ.

the 1st one is the KCOS, i made and had to post out to 5 others. The next two are of our tree at night and in the day time.

BACK TO REALITY!!

Well it's a Good morning from me.
So glad to be home but loved and enjoyed my time away with my Brother and his
lovely girlfriend and i cannot forget my niece and nephew.

The weather was lovely the whole time i was there, think i packed too much clothing thinking it may have been cold some days, but nooooo.... so needed some more summer clothing, all the more reason to shop i guess  :)

Loved the shopping and Walmart became my friendly place to shop, among a few other shops including the craft shops such as Michaels and Joannes. I couldn't believe the prices of wooden stamps and how much we would be paying here in NZ. So i got myself a couple of Christmas themed ones and some others. The one thing i was pleased i got was MARTHA STEWARTS scoring board, I payed $20 US and here the sell for $50-$55 i think i got myself a bargain there.

So now i am home and settling back into my old routine, i have a few things i need to get busy on, our local Baptist Church is having a art and craft market day & my girlfriend asked if i would e interested in selling some T-LIGHT candle Cards.... I had done a demo one Tues  at our ladies TIME OUT morning and they seemed to love the idea of a card with wee gift of some T-LIGHT candles especially if the smell nice when lit.
So i now need  to get busy and  make a few up as time is getting nearer.

Enjoy your day.

Reno here i come!!!

Hi Friends,
I'm so darn excited... like a kid in a lolly shop.
2 days to go, so tthought I'd sneak in a quick post before leaving on my 2 week holiday to celebrate my brothers 40th.
Been a bit busy buying stuff for his kids and himself, i must remember myself, make sure i have some money left over...lol
Kids are excited, our eldest thinks she's having a going away party at the airport, she even brought shome party poppers.. cheeky cow  :) All good though, I bet she'll break down 1st????
Hubby's at home with our girls for a week and our son spending time helping out his Nana up north.

I have made a couple of cards before leaving, has been my save n grace as not to stress out about my trip and make sure I've done & got all the right things, paid the bills in advance etc....
So here are a couple of pics for you to enjoy.

Enjoyed doing this one, love making the flowers using my one and only Stampin Up punch (THE LARGE ONE)
The leaves i got from our local craft shop and i love them, they're just the right size and texture. Thanks ABSOLUTELY CRAFTY.
I coloured the image with water pencils, I'm still perfecting my coloring in and blending but of course one needs the right paper as well. I soo want some copics or other pens.

My next card i just loved!. It's an Easel card & it turned out just how i envisioned it to turn out like.
The boy with the barrow was cut out from a 30x30 scrap booking sheet. As soon as i saw it, i knew what to do with it & let me tell you, that does not happen very often at all!

The only down side was my sentiment and glossing my flower, however i love it all the same and we learn from our wee mistakes don't we?
So that's my post for this month, I celebrated my birthday on the 1st and it was a quiet one so hope my Brother and i will party up large at his  :)
Have a great day all, enjoy your day what ever your doing.
